In addition to being one of the most common injuries, it is also typically the injury that will cause players to lose the most amount of playing time. (Other volleyball injuries include rotator cuff tendonitis, finger injuries, patellar tendonitis, ACL injury, and lower-back pain).

Because of the sensitivity of ankle sprains, they need to be treated with care and patience. A sprained ankle usually requires a minimum of 8-weeks in order to fully recover, but of course, this depends on the severity of the sprain.
