Pain Relief – The heating pad will stimulate the sensory receptors in your skin; this will decrease the pain signals to your brain and you will feel pain relief.

Who Should Buy the Battle Creek Thermophore Automatic Moist Heat Pack?
If you are looking for a heating pad that gets very hot, then this might be a good purchase for you.
If you are looking for an easy slide switch, this heating pad has that.
It is also for you if you are looking for a thinner heating pad that easily forms after your body.
Do NOT Buy If…
You are looking for a pad with a continuous heat option.
You want a controller that are more advanced, where you can set the exact temperature for example.
You want dry heat, this is a heating pad that will draw moisture from the air without any extra water added.
Thermophore or Battle Creek?
Thermophore is owned by Battle Creek. When you do research online it can get confusing if it is a Battle Creek product or Thermophore product, but really Battle Creek owns and represents the Thermophore products.
Another confusing aspect of this product is, if it´s called MaxHeat or Arthritits pad? I just got confirmed from Battle Creek that MaxHeat and Arthritis heat pad is the same thing, the same product.
The old Arthritis pad is today called the MaxHeat product.
Different Thermophore 14 x 27 Models
4 heating pad models from Thermophore, size 14 x 27
- Model 055 –Thermophore Automatic Moist Heat Pack/Classic
- Model 155 – Thermophore MaxHEAT Automatic Moist Heat Pack – the one we review here.
- Model 255 – Thermophore Classic Plus Automatic Moist Heat Pack
- Model 355 – Thermophore MaxHEAT Plus Automatic Moist Heat Pack
Thermophore MaxHEAT Automatic Moist Heat Pack Model 155 VS. Classic 14”×27” Model 055
The difference between the Thermophore model 155 and 055 is the switch. The 155 model comes with a slide switch where you can set the heat setting to low, medium or high. With the 055 model you have to hold down the switch to reach desired heat. After you let go of the switch the heat will start dropping.
Thermophore MaxHEAT Automatic Moist Heat Pack Model 155 VS. Thermophore Classic Plus Automatic Moist Heat Pack Model 255
The switch – the 155 model comes with the 3 heat setting option slide switch. The 255 model comes with the simple switch that you have to hold down until you reach wanted heat.
The 255 model comes with a moisture plus cover that allows you to add water to the heating pad. This will be useful in dry regions or if you want extra moisture. This extra moist cover is not included with the 155 model.
Thermophore MaxHEAT Automatic Moist Heat Pack Model 155 VS. Thermophore MaxHEAT Plus Automatic Moist Heat Pack 14×27 Model 355
Both these models comes with the same switch where you have 3 heat options. The 355 model also comes with the extra moist plus cover.
|Automatic/Classic||MaxHEAT||Classic Plus||MaxHEAT Plus|
|Switch||Hold down manually||3 Settings High/Med/Low||Hold down manually||3 Settings High/Med/Low|
|Automatic Shut Off||YES, Stays on 20- 25 min||YES, Stays on 20- 25 min|
Let`s look at the different switches.
The Old Control
There are heating pads out there still with the old control, don`t get that one, because it might not be under warranty. The switch NOT to get looks like this:
Pros and Cons
- Gets very hot.
- Has an easy control switch.
- It`s a brand that has been around for a while.
- No continuous heat
- No readable heat settings
Customer Support and Warranty
Battle Creek has good customer support I tried them out by sending them an email and they got back with me within reasonable time.
You can contact them here with any questions;
Full One Year Warranty
Make sure you purchase a model with the latest three setting switch and NOT the one with the pause button, since those will not be under warranty.
The heating pad comes with full one year warranty. They will repair or replace the heating pad if there is any manufacturing defect or if it doesn`t perform accordingly to how the brochures says it will. You have to use it as directed though, which means no lying on it, for example. Make sure you read through the “do`s” and “don`ts” before using it.
They also want you to save your receipt showing the date of purchase.
This heating pad is a little bit more expensive than some of the other ones in the large or extra large category. You will save a few dollars if you go with the 055 model but then you have to deal with the hold down switch. I am not sure it would be worth that.
On the other hand you have more expensive options as well. In this case you will get what you pay for a good heating pad that gets very hot and penetrate down and help ease your pain.
There are a few confusing aspects of this product, different names and models but hopefully we made all that clear in this review. If this is the heating pad of your choice just make sure you get the latest model so that it`s covered by the warranty. Get the 155 model with the three slider switch, the MaxHeat pad (not the Arthritis pad).
