Natural Muscle Pain Relief

Things you can do or take the following natural remedies that will decrease the muscle pain:

  • Chamomile. Chamomile is an herbal supplement sometimes taken as a tea.  You can take it as a supplement as well.  It contains over 30 flavonoids, which are anti-inflammatory agents. They block the inflammation of the muscles so you pain can be relieved.  It can also be massaged into your painful muscles to relieve your muscle pain or spasms.
  • Cherry juice. Cherry juice is often used by people who train vigorously, such as marathon runners who over-stress their muscles. It can help decrease the muscle pain and inflammation, allowing for better range of motion of the muscles and better muscle strength without pain. Research has shown that drinking cherry juice can lessen the pain runners experience when they run.  They naturally relax the muscles so you don’t experience as much pain.  It is also an antioxidant, which is good for your health.
  • Blueberry smoothies. This is another way to decrease your muscle pain.  Research has shown that drinking a blueberry smoothie before you exercise and after you do heavy work can decrease your pain and can enhance your recovery from damage to your muscles. Blueberries are also natural antioxidants that scavenge for oxygen free radicals that can damage DNA and cause inflammation in the cells.
  • Cayenne pepper. Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, which is a natural substance you will find in cayenne pepper.  It is a natural muscle relaxant that will ease your sore muscles.  It’s so good for muscle pain that it’s recommended to people who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and diseases like fibromyalgia.  It can be added to your food or taken as a supplement for better pain relief. They make capsaicin cream, too, that is applied directly to sore muscles.
  • Vitamin D. You might be deficient in vitamin D if you have muscle spasms or ongoing muscle pain.  You can take vitamin D in many ways, including capsules, tablets, and liquids.  You can also get your vitamin D in the food you eat.  Fortified milk, fish, and eggs are good sources of vitamin D.  You can also get vitamin D by exposing yourself to the sun.
  • Magnesium. Magnesium is important for normal nerve and muscle function.  People who are deficient in magnesium will often experience muscle pain.  You can get your magnesium naturally by eating brown rice, legumes, almonds, and bananas.
  • Rest your muscles. Resting is perhaps the most natural ways to get pain relief from sore muscles and cramping of the muscles.  Try to rest as much as you can and try to drink plenty of fluids and plenty of sleep.  While you are resting, use an ice pack or heating pad to the affected muscles for further pain relief.

Always consult with your doctor when adding a supplement to your diet.
