Two of my favorite natural stone heating mats are the JT mesh mat model and the TAO mat model from HealthyLine.

JT stands for the stones included in the mat, jade, and tourmaline. The same thing goes for the TAO mat, tourmaline, amethyst, and obsidian are the natural stones included.

When HealthyLine offered to send me these mats, I happily accepted. It allowed me to review the mats and give my honest opinion about them.

A lot of times we get stuck choosing between two products. Since these mats are popular I thought it would be helpful to compare the two different models side by side so you can see what they have in common but most importantly what sets them apart.

If you’ve been looking at both these models, this post could help you decide which one is best for you and your needs.

Let’s start with the basics…

Why Use Natural Stone in a Heating Mat?

These natural stones come with many health benefits, here we mention a few…

Jade – is known for emitting FIR far infrared rays. Jade is also known for improving blood circulation, detoxifying the body, improved healing, boost the immune system and reduce stress.

Tourmaline – this natural stone is great for emitting large amounts of negative ions. Tourmaline helps to detoxify the body and improve blood circulation.

Amethyst – this is a great source for both negative ions and FIR far infrared rays. Amethyst is also known for its calming effects.

Obsidian – this stone has a cleansing effect and are known for removing negative energy.

FIR – Far-infrared Rays

Far infrared rays go deeper into your body, these heating mats 5 – 14 um. This helps with healing and also detoxifying the body.

Negative Ions

Negative ions help clear the air around us. It’s done in nature and we can see it in the calm after a storm for example. Negative ions can improve overall well being, it can also clear the air from viruses, bacteria, pollen, dust and other allergens. It can also help with sleep and improve the immune system.

The TAO mat emits double the amount of negative ion cc, compared to the JT mesh mat.

What Is PEMF and Why Use It?

The TAO mats come with the option of PEMF. PEMF or pulsed electromagnetic fields is said to be a way to recharge.

This is how HealthyLine explain PEMF and how they are using it in their mats:

Included In the Package

Included in package…

Both models include the following in their package:

The Material

The JT Mesh mat is made out of 14 layers, quality, non-toxic materials. The top layer holds the stones in place with a net-like material. The bottom layer is made out of a waterproof material.

You can get this mat flexible or non-flexible depending on the size you choose. I have the full mat which is flexible, I love that since it’s easy to roll up and store.

The TAO mat is made out of 18 layers, it’s a little thicker than the JT mesh mat. The material is non-toxic and high quality. The top layer is synthetic leather, it almost feels suede-like. There is a plastic window strip so that you can see the natural stones included. The bottom layer is a waterproof material.

This mat you will have to fold up when you put away to store.

The Controller

The controller will depend on which size mat you get.

But let’s compare the controllers on the JT Mesh full mat and TAO mat 6024:

The controller to the left goes with the JT mesh full mat. It’s very easy to use although it is a little bulky. You push the on button and the controller lights up. You then set the time duration of 3, 6 or 12 hours with the push button.

To set the wanted heat you turn the knob, max heat is 70C or 158F.

The TAO 6024 mat comes with the controller to the right. This is a smaller controller and I must say that I prefer to use this one. You turn it on by pushing the on/off button in the middle, you can see how it’s lit up in the picture.

You push the time duration button and then use the errors to set the wanted time, choose between 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 hours.

Push the heat duration button and set the wanted heat setup up to 70C or 158F.

You also have the option of having the PEMF setting on or off. There’s also a night setting.

JT Mesh Mats Different Sizes

The jade and tourmaline mat comes in many different sizes, from the large king size mat to the small portable mat:

The stones are 2″ jade and tourmaline stones.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a natural stone mat, that will allow you to benefit from FIR and negative ions to an affordable price I would go with the JT Mesh Mat. It’s comfortable, it’s depending on the size easy to move around and overall a great jade and tourmaline mat.

If you want to get the FIR and boosted negative ion levels (compared to the JT Mesh) + the PEMF function and more control as far as time duration and night setting then I would suggest the TAO mat.
